Our Story

Brain On Fire Too

One family's fight to be believed — and a mission to make sure no one fights alone.

The Mission

Fighting for the Diagnosis That Changes Everything

Autoimmune Encephalitis is a rare and devastating neurological disease where the immune system attacks the brain. It is misdiagnosed as psychiatric illness, dismissed as anxiety, and overlooked for months — sometimes years — while patients deteriorate.

Brain On Fire Too exists because Raheem's family lived that nightmare. We fought for every test, every referral, every moment of being taken seriously. And we won. Now we're here to help you win too.

Not lazy. Not imagining. Not weak. Not alone.

Raheem's Story

When the Brain Turns Against Itself

It started with personality changes. Then confusion. Then seizures. The doctors said it was stress. They said it was mental illness. They said to wait and see. But Raheem's family knew something was deeply, neurologically wrong.

After months of fighting — demanding tests, seeking second opinions, refusing to accept a psychiatric label for a physical disease — the diagnosis finally came: Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis. A treatable condition. But only if you catch it in time.

The treatment worked. Raheem recovered. But the experience left a mark — not just on the family, but on a mission. How many other families were still in that waiting room, being told nothing was wrong? How many patients were being treated for the wrong disease?

Brain On Fire Too was born from that question. Every book we publish, every resource we share, every advocate we empower is part of the answer.

What We Stand For

Believe the Patient

We start from the position that something is wrong and work backward. We never accept 'it's all in your head' as a final answer.

Empower the Advocate

Caregivers and family members are the first line of defense. We give them the tools, language, and confidence to fight effectively.

Educate to Liberate

Knowledge is the most powerful advocacy tool. Our books translate complex medical realities into actionable guidance.

Community Over Isolation

AIE is rare and lonely. We build community so no family has to navigate this disease without support.
